Shh, brain, shh….
I’m just getting way too many software ideas lately! And realize, I’m not complaining about the ideas, I’m complaining about the lack of time to accomplish these ideas….
proteusEdit is coming along decently, although I need to figure out why sometimes I’m getting a second vertical scrollbar in my windows. I think it has something to do with the Splitter class, but I’m not sure what. My other software is going decently too, in fact I should be using it myself in another week or so. This one is unnamed as of yet, although a temporary name is todoBuddy. I’ve GOT to start coming up with cooler code names. It’s very simple — it sits in your tray and you can click, and up pops a list of ToDo items, and you can check them off. Well, it has a little more functionality than that — you can split them into groups and color code them — and it will eventually have an alarm-like feature where you can associate a sound file or visual alert with a todo item. But that’s the main idea. I’m trying to eliminate all of these sticky notes on my monitor!!
I’m also going to start on an archiving assistant application soon. I cleaned up my hard drives (on multiple computers) last week, and burned 33 more backup CDs for all of my various downloads (shareware, trailers, etc.) and project files (web design, flash, c++, etc.). It’s pretty insane. But now I have no idea what is where, and that’s just no good. So I’m going to make an archive assistant where you pop in a CD, it reads and stores just the directory structure, which you can later browse through. Then the software tells you what disc it’s on. These can also be organized in groups, such as by client, etc., etc., etc. Again, this is something that is mostly designed as a proprietary tool, but that I will release soon enough.
So anyway, I’ve got a lot of plans on my mind these days! But altogether, I’m very happy to be writing software again. It’s something I really enjoy.
