“Gator is Spyware, you f***ers”

So I was reading the comments on this Slashdot post, about how Gator*For those that don’t know, Gator is a horrible horrible little application that sits on your computer and spies on your internet activities — or what is classically knows as ’spyware’ has sued a website called PCPitStop for libel, saying:

If we find anyone publicly calling us spyware, we correct it and take action if necessary

Well, if you say so. Obviously, many of the Slashdot posts went along the lines of “Hey, Gator is spyware, nahnahnahnah.” But there was one really golden post:

Dear Gator,

Gator is Spyware, you fuckers. Spyware. Spyware. Spyware.

Please send me a nastygram. My career is stalled, and I could really use the publicity.

Love,

Wil Wheaton
Linux weenie who doesn’t even use your crappy SPYware.

PS- It’s spyware.

Now of course this post dredged up a few replies asking why would somebody write a letter as Wil Wheaton, AKA Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Wesley Crusher? Well, for those that don’t realize this, Wil Wheaton is an uber-geek (he even guest-hosted an episode of The Screen Savers once), and yes, he does read and post on Slashdot. Yup. That really was Wil Wheaton.*I like his Slashdot sig:
Go boldly in the direction of your dreams.
Funny guy. He’s very quick to mock his own career and publicity.

By the way…Gator is SPYWARE!!! Naaah!

    Several times, actually.

I liked his older signature file shich said, I am Jack’s .sig which is a Fight Club reference for those out there who havent seen the movie or read the book.

Hey Dave, how do you italicize et cetera in the comments?

  3. LuxFX Says:

You just use normal HTML tags.

Weird. Didn’t work the first time I tried. Maybe it didn’t show up in the preview or something.

    Testing, testing, testing.

OK, for some reason it keeps cutting out my tags.

  5. Amit Says:

What I meant is that it cuts out my <u></u> tags.

I went back to the first post in this comment and changed your [i] to <i>, etc.

But I noticed the <u> weirdness too. Not sure about that one. I thought there might be something in my stylesheets that is overriding that, but I can’t find it. I’m going to say it’s the same weirdness that causes my text to be invisible sometimes until you select it or scroll off the page. There is definately something weird in that code….
