Trouble with Motivation….
This is really frustrating. I’m in one of those moods where I’m having trouble focusing on work — and I’ve got a ton of it to do! — and just want to sit around and have fun on the internet. Sigh. That’s a big problem when you work and play on the same machine.
I’ve been reading a bit of Wil Wheaton’s blog. I just think it’s great to know that there are geeks high and low out there.
Poor Jen is stuck doing homework for a business class she’s doing for the museum. She sounds frustrated…. I hope she can finish soon and get to bed, she needs sleep.

My own work, albeit my current stagnation, is going well. I finished the big obfuscation project, a few days ahead of schedule thanks to the application I wrote to help me do it. I was having a funny problem while I was working on the application though — well I guess I should have seen it coming. It’s just a little in-house tool, right? Well that doesn’t come naturally to me at all — I’m too much of a perfectionist. So the struggle was to not worry about it not looking or acting professional, and keep it simple and efficient. It was a tough struggle!!! But over now. When I finally finished the application and did the work — it was all over with in 25 minutes. That’s how efficient it made me! That was from a 50+ hour project. Of course, a good 35 hours went into the application. But much time was still saved, and I’m getting a really good footing on programming again.
Oh, and the camera finally processed today! I think they were tired of me bugging them about it, and I think they upgraded my shipping option. I know I chose ground — but when the guy gave me a tracking number it was a FedEx number. And FedEx doesn’t do ground!*At least, I think that’s right…. So whoo-hoo! Maybe it will be here sooner than never! Unfortunately the number hasn’t been processed in the FedEx database yet (I think they’re slower than UPS about that) so I can’t verify that. But according to this guy it was shipped today! YES!
Oh and I’ve started to watch my weight again. It was getting higher and higher…mostly thanks to the wedding last week (and MMmmmMMmmmm Cinzetti’s….) but I’ve been trying to get myself into diet-mode again for a while now. After the wedding last week, I was just under 210 (not as bad as the 235 I was at 2 years ago, but significantly worse than the 180 I was at 18 months ago….boingy boingy boingy….). I thought it would go down again after the wedding but nope, it was 209.6 for two days straight. So I made the commitment. Monday: 209.6; Tuesday: 206.8; Wednesday: 205.6; Thursday: 203.8. So, just like when I started dieting a couple of years ago, you can tell how much my body wanted to get rid of the weight by how fast it goes. Thank you SlimFast!
And my shadow will be coming tomorrow (so I really should get some sleep soon….). From 9:00 to 2:00. Well, at least he’ll be here on a busy day (thanks in part to my procrastinations tonight….). One of my bigger worries about it was that he would get here just to see me piddle around on my personal projects. But tomorrow should give him a great example of a busy day for me. Whew. Not that this makes me any less nervous…. It’ll just be a little weird to have a 8th grade stranger watching me work over my shoulder.
