Let it snow, let it snow, let it…ok, hold it right there, that’s plenty thanks

Wow! Finally a good snow! It’s beaufiul, and we must have gotten four or five inches much more than was expected for the southern part of the KC metro. Well I have no idea what the official tally was, it’s one of those windy snows that’s hard to determine.

Unfortunately, Erin was unable to get out of work today (Jen’s off, though), and I had to drive her to work (we very nearly didn’t have enough traction to make it up the slight incline to get out of our parking lot!). NO WAY we were letting her drive herself. Those roads were scary. The city crew must have been taken by total surprise, I don’t think the roads were pre-salted at all, and I only saw one city truck the whole time I was out. Jen was planning on getting out for a couple of things today, even though the museum was closed, but I made her stay home.

Pretty yes, but one of those treacherous snows. It iced about 1/4″-1/2″ first, then snowed on top of that. So even when the snow plows came around, they could only get the overlaying snow, revealing the packed snow / ice underneath. If only they had (generously) salted the roads! But the drive was safe enough. We only saw about six or seven cars that had slid off the road.

But….all in all, it was snow! And that’s exciting and pretty!
