Bye-bye birdie
This is so sad!! I’m sure everyone knows how much I love all the birds that come to feed in our little backyard. It’s a great environment for them, which makes it a great place for us. There’s a medium-sized tree whose trunk is actually next door, but which basically grows at the fence. Sometimes there are 30 or more birds on that tree, who dip down occassionally to the feeder for food, or when I’ve got the finch feeder full of thistle seed, they just hop down to that branch for a snack. It’s a wonderful collection of birds, and the tree is positioned just right so that the majority of the birds will sit right outside our bedroom window. Jen and I love waking up hearing the birds chirping in the morning — and the cats love it too, but probably for a different reason.
But no longer.
Whether at the request of our neighbors or at the request of the management, a crew came in yesterday and cut down the tree!!! I saw/heard them yesterday, trimming a different tree — so I figured they were just a trimming crew. But they cut this tree down! Now. if this was a dead or diseased tree I would be a little more understanding. But this was a perfectly healthy tree!
And since then, I have seen zero birds. Even if they do come back for food, there certainly isn’t room for 30 or more. This changes everything. This is just terrible.
