More work, new blog?
Work just keeps on coming!
And on top of all that, I think I will end up moving to a different blogging system. MovableType, which I have fully endorsed ever since I started using it, has started charging for their software. Only for their new versions, mind you — so, if I never upgraded, I still wouldn’t have to pay for what I have. And they still have a free version, except it’s fairly limited. But altogether…I just don’t want to keep using something I’ll never be able to comfortably upgrade without paying $99.95 for it. So….I’ll probably be moving to a WordPress system in the next couple of months. I’ll have to test it for a while to make sure. From reading about it, there are already some things I really like, but most importantly is that it is released under the GNU Open Source license agreement. This means that there will never come a day where this will become a non-free piece of software. Yay! I love supporting Open Source. And depending on how I like the system, I might even contribute to the development.

I’m working with it right now. It does seem to have some features that I like. However, I am having fits trying to get the thumbnail part to work. It is kinda buggy in parts.

Fortunately, being Open Source, I could (theoretically) fix those bugs myself, and integrate my fixes into the full project, which would help everybody out. Cool!

The bug turned out to be a “user” problem. I finally figured out that my hosting provided did have GD installed so I had to request them to install it. I just ran the MT importer which works okay. The _really_ bad thing is redoing all the templates! That is going to take a while! But I love the product so far.
