Bush and semantics
I was listening to NPR news today (and later got real quotes from CNN.com) and there was a report on the Iraq / al Queda 9/11 connection. As you might recal, one of the reasons Bush decided to invade Iraq was because of this connection. But there isn’t one. At least that’s what the investigative committee decided. The report then played a little clip of Bush trying to defend himself.
Bush reiterated that the administration never said that “the 9/11 attacks were orchestrated” between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda. “We did say there were numerous contacts between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda,” he said.
Sound familiar? Sounds a bit like “I did not have sexual relations with that woman….Well, define ’sex’” doesn’t it?
Well, at least when Clinton was defending himself with semantics it was just about a blow job. Not, say, the invasion of a country!
