yucky day

I had another meeting day. I met with W this morning to load the most recent updates from the website to their laptop — only to find out they have two new laptops that needing it as well. And since these were fresh installations and not just updates, it meant that I had to install Apache, PHP, MySQL, MySQL Control Center, and phpMyAdmin on two extra computers. Wow! Then they wanted me to explain how to use an administration tool (cPanel) that comes with their web hosting package. It’s not something they will need much of (believe me, they’ll never understand regular expressions in a million years — heck, I’ve been learning how to use them for eight years and I only feel like I know enough to get by).

But, bottom line, I was there for more than 2.5 hours, and the only reason I got out when I did was because I had another meeting to get to. I finally just flat out interrupted them, stood up, and said, “Why don’t you email me the rest of that? I have to get to my next meeting. Bye!”

I was hoping to have about 1.5 hours between the meetings to try to catch up on some more work, but no luck. I did get to my next meeting on time, but only just. This one was a breeze, just about twenty minutes. I tell you what, if by some gargantuan bad luck I ever had to try and find employment somewhere, this is where I would go. This is the big ad agency that Juice set me up with. The designers there are lots of fun — it mostly reminds me of a great job I had in Chicago for a while. Very similar. Definately a big-city design firm feel.

Of course, I am never ever going to work for somebody else again, so it’s a moot point. But it would be nice to continue working with these guys on more projects!

My back is much much better today. I actually didn’t feel the need to wear the heat pad today at all! Of course, I’m not going to strap wet washclothes to my back when I’m all dressed up and visiting with clients anyway, but I also didn’t need to…. I’m still very sore in the mornings, and it’s fairly painful to get up out of bed. Oh, and it hurts like hell when I sneeze. I never knew that the lower back took such a large part in the act of sneezing, but then again I do have particularly violent sneezes.

Oh, and I think Killy just had a couple of Night Terrors. He’s been napping in the playpen down here in the office with me. And — without even waking up — goes from peaceful sleep to screaming bloody murder…and then back to sleep again! Without ever opening his eyes. He did this twice! Wow, I hope he’s not starting a trend…..

Whoa, seeing Killy have a night terror must be creepifying. Seeing a baby go from sleeping to sleeping while screaming in terror to sleeping peacefully again would give my the screaming heebie jeebies if you know what I mean.

My right shoulder and the right side of my neck and upper/middle spine has been bothering me for a few weeks now. I woke up one Saturday and I was so stiff I could barely get out of bed and I could only turn my neck with great difficulty. Forget about looking up.

Dad looked at it and determined it was a combo of joint and muscle pain. I think that first night I slept in a very horrible position with too many pillows, and since then have been aggravating it with bad posture and lack of exercise. Bad me. As with you, it’s been stiffer in the mornings right out of bed, but better as the day progressed.

Dad hooked me up to a muscle stimulator machine, and it felt heavenly. After attaching electrodes to my neck and upper back he wrapped my neck up with a warm, moist sandbag and turned the muscle stimulator on. It was a twenty minute virtual massage. Ohh, baybee.

I know exactly what you mean about your neck. That happened to me once in middle or high school when I was visiting grandparents in Chattanooga. That was the last time I have ever slept on my stomach. Never again!

The next day we went to the Tennessee Aquarium (it had just opened) and I couldn’t turn my head at all to look at anything, so I just had to swivel my body and bend at the back to look around. Very painful! My recent back pain has reminded me a lot of that….
