let there be light!

Oh boy this rocks.

I had been planning on building my own pendant lights for the office for months now, since we closed on the house. We had the electrician install the light boxes in the ceiling, but I still needed to get the canopy (the part at the ceiling), the stem, and the actual bulb socket. The part that I was going to make was the shade. Well, we’ve got a lot of visitors over the next couple of months so we thought we’d get those last things done. Jen painted the hall bathroom today (boy, it looks great!), and I decided to finally get around to those lights.

Well, I did some pricing and found out that I would be able to get actual pendant lights at Lowes for about the same price that I could get just the canopy and the socket. Not even including the stem! I figured we could just get the kits and I could just not use the shades that came with them. So today we went out and got the pendant kits. I was hoping at first to be able to build the shades this weekend but some extra work came up. But now that we had the whole light kits, I could just set them up the way they came, and add my own shades when they get built.

And WOW these lights are pretty! Check them out!

Oh! And before I forget to mention this — Jen fixed a salad tonight with grilled salmon on top — and I loved it! Who knew! I finally found a way that I like fish! I’m so happy now that I’m no longer worried about starving to death if I wind up shipwrecked on a deserted island! (honestly, I’ve been concerned about that for years)
