new neighbors: first impression
Our new neighbors are moving in this weekend, to the house right next to ours on the west side (to your left if you’re knocking on our front door). And, I must say, my first impression is not good.
I should say first off that there are a lot of people over there, off and on today, as their family/friends are helping them move. So I don’t know exactly which ones are our actual neighbors and which ones might just be future visitors. But I was just fixing tea in the kitchen and was looking out of our back door window. There was a teenage boy (I’m guessing 13 or 14) in their backyard, ripping a branch off of one of their apple trees. This yard has a couple of really nice apple trees, so first off I was pretty upset that this kid was just randomly damaging one.
Then the kid — I’m going to call him Sid — starts beating the ground randomly with the branch he has broken from the tree. Full out, two handed, slamming the branch down, beating the ground. And occassionally reach down, picking up a fallen apple, and hurtling it across the yard, trying to smash it against a big tree on the far side of their property. Thankfully not in our direction, especially considering how many missed and landed in their other neighbor’s yard.
At least, I don’t think he threw any into our yard. If I run over any apples with our lawn mower I’m not going to be happy. I don’t mind kids having fun in their own yards, but don’t throw anything into ours. I actually spend time taking care of our yard. If you’ve got rotting apples in your yard, pick them up. Don’t put them in my yard.

I’m sorry, but I’m still laughing over your pet name for the neighbor… Sid… Hide Killy’s toys!
I know all about evil neighbors, so I hope that they turn out better than your first impression would indicate.
