MORE awful!
A Londoner donated to the tsunami aid relief fund — and was arrested for it! The problem was that he accessed the webpage using Lynx, a popular text-based web browser, on a Solaris 10 operating system. The admin running the site didn’t recognize the lynx/solaris signature in the event log on the server, and decided it was a hacker attempting to access the system, and called the police. Armed policemen broke down the man’s door, SWAT style, and arrested him in the middle of lunch.
Here’s the BBC story about the “dangerous criminal” from the police’s side of things. Here is the report with the inside story.
(assuming this is the whole truth) I hope this guy gets some major compensation.
