Hair museum

I’ve been having a nice weekend off with Jen’s parents visiting — I got over nine hours of sleep last night! Today we went to the Hair Museum. Yes, the Hair Museum!

It was much cooler than I was expecting. It was jewelry and wreathes made of, or at least decorated with hair! It’s an entire art form — families made wreathes of family member’s hair as a memorial after they died. They were used like family trees, with each family member’s hair as a section of the wreath. The hair was woven into all kinds of flower shapes. They were the result of a year or two of work. It was certainly impressive…. Jen was only partially creeped out that there was so much hair….

I’m off to bake some snickerdoodles! Mmmm!
