weekend

Well this weekend will be quite different for me. Erin’s taking classes in Emporia this weekend (as she does once a month or so), but this time Jen and Killy are going with her. This will be my first night without Killy, and my first night without Jen in a long time.

So this weekend is going to be dedicated to work, work, work. Or at least, that was the plan. Suddenly one of the big projects I was going to work on has a small delay, and the other one is going smoother than expected. The result: I might have a spare few hours that I could *gasp* do something other than work! But what to do? Well, there are a couple of movies I’d like to rewatch. But I think I’ll also make a goal of trying to make time to play a computer game or two.

Whoa. What was that?

When I last upgraded my computer, over a year ago now, I made sure and get a nice and fast video card. There were more benefits other than gaming (smoother visualization in 3d programs, faster video, better color, and the digital video jack that I plan on one day hooking an LCD monitor up to), but excellent gaming playback is certainly very good on this video card. But in the last year, I haven’t really gotten to play any games that take advantage of it. Since then, Doom3 and Half-Life 2 have come out. I don’t know if Half-Life 2 has a demo available, but I’m pretty sure that Doom3 does. I’ve heard excellent things about it. Maybe I’ll have time to check it out over the weekend. Who knows!?

You just better not neglect the work and the family ;)

SO much better than Doom 3. They were both fantastic, but Doom 3 was just too full of itself for its own good I think. Half-Life 2 is an instant classic. As much, if not more than the first. It doesn’t take THAT long to finish though, so if you decide to buy (or otherwise aquire) the full version, you won’t be distracted from work too long.

Thanks — I tried it out last night. It ROCKED.

I came to the exactly same conclusion. Doom3 was cool. But HalfLife2 was oh so much more. Just in the demo, there were a couple of times where my heart skipped a beat. I think I yelled out loud once but fortunately there was nobody here to confirm that ;)

No way I can play the whole game through though. Not right now at least. I’m having a very busy spell. :-\
