letter to Mr. Bush
You absolutely, absolutely, absolutely, absolutely have to read this letter to President Bush, very well written by Paul Kershaw, aka brighn.
Mr. President, Mr. Bush,
While you were burning the midnight oil to save the controversial life of Terri Schiavo, how many elderly folks died because they couldn’t afford drugs under Medicare, drugs they could have afforded had they been allowed to purchase them from Canada?
How many, Mr. President?
While you were pushing the Congress to show that each and every American life was important, how many homeless died because our government-run welfare and mental health systems failed them?
How many, Mr. President?
While you were draping yourself in the Cloak of Magnanimity in the media, castigating those who are indifferent to Terri Schiavo’s life, how many teens were sentenced to an early death of AIDS because you failed to tell them about condoms?
How many, Mr. President?
While you were cooperating with the Federal Congress to trample on a single state’s rights to constitutionally protected autonomy, creating a chilling precedent that any state that disagrees with your ideology is subject to the same bullying, how many gays, blacks, and Arabs were beaten to within inches of their life by bigotry that you’d failed to publicly outcry?
How many, Mr. President?
While you and your cohort were mugging for the cameras about the importance of EVERY American life, how many Americans died because of your own indifference?
That’s all I want to know, Mr. President.
HOW MANY?
