Friday links: Floridaspheres

  • It’s not Half-Life 3, really! HDR lighting, or HDRI can bring unheard of realism to 3d graphics, because it can pull real lighting conditions from a real photo. • FireFox: Head Popping goodness A trio of funny ads promoting Firefox!
  • Friday the 13th How unlucky is Friday the 13th, really? This article is a very interesting bit of research into the source of the myth.
  • Floridaspheres! Or at least that’s what one person is trying to dub them because the first ones were spotted in Google Maps of Florida. Are these weather balloons? UFOs? What are they?
  • Newsbreakers Hilarious! A group of people go around harrassing news reporters when they’re doing stories! Check out the videos!
  • Sidewalk Art Last week we saw what artists do when they play on the beach, take a look and see what they do when they play on the sidewalk
  • Making of a Brick Here’s a cute sim-style animation about the making of legos. Roll over the bouncing numbers for videos of particular stages.
  • Calvinball! Were you ever curious about all of the Calvinball rules? And which ones actually applied? Suffice it to say that the only real ‘rule’ is that you can’t have the same rules twice!
  • The Last Star Wars Supper It’s no DaVinci, but it’s exactly what it sounds like!
