Finding Verbosity

Killian is on the cusp of a verbal explosion! Typically, soon after children start using two word combinations, they hit a verbal explosion and suddenly, in just a few months, they vocabulary quadruples and they start using short phrases. The only two-word phrase Killy is speaking right now is “Hi Dada” (and he might have arguably learned that as a single word). But he started to sign several two word phrases! He’s signed “more please,” “more milk,” and “cheese please!” And as you can see, please is a word he’s starting to sign more and more often — how very polite! About half the time we need to prompt him “say please, Killy” but the other half of the time he’s done it spontaneously. Once all I said was “What do you say, Killy?” and he signed ‘please!’

And he’s learning more signs all the time. Erin brought home a videotape from the library that’s sort of like a baby einstein type educational children’s video, that’s based on ASL. Killy signs back to the TV frequently!
