baby blues
Poor Jen! Her body is getting rid of all her pregnancy hormones, and she’s basically on a withdrawal crash. It’s commonly termed “Baby Blues” and happens about three days after birth. Guys: there is simply no way we can know what this is like. Women generate about 100 times as many hormones during pregnancy than they do in the entire rest of their life, and it all goes away in one day. It’s roughly the same as all of the changes that happen to a woman’s body during menopause — in one day. Ouch!
On the pleasant side of things, Killy is reacting more to Ellie now. He thinks her swing is very cool, and was playing around with it. Since she was in it at the time, he got to spend some time with her too! He would push the swing for her (not that it needed it, since it’s battery operated, and he could have been a little gentler, but it’s the thought that counts!), and would occassional put his finger to his lips and go “sssss” (he can’t do the “shhh” sound yet) to say, “Shh! The baby’s sleeping!” Very cute. And he petted her head! How adorable is that!?
Killy also learned to sing the first line of “Row, row, row your boat” today! Ok, so the “your boat” part doesn’t come out too clear, but he really likes the “row row row” part!
