Well it’s been great having some time to work on my own site, but it’s coming to an end. Things are picking up on other projects, and I’m afraid it’s going to be a while before I can devote enough time to finish it up. Oh well — the design part is finished, […]

I’m more certain now that what I saw the other night actually was an albino groundhog. They do exist! Actually, Canada’s version of Punxutawney Phil is an albino groundhog called Wiarton Willie. And the pictures look just like what I saw!

Wow, this has been the best Monday I’ve had in a long time! I didn’t do any work for clients today, and I only to communicate twice with clients. Once when a client called to say he was putting a check in the mail, and once when a client emailed and said that […]

Well I officially started work on my new business website! It’s about time! I’m using Mambo. It was a tough call because while there’s so many thing I like about Mambo, the permissions granularity is pretty poor. But that’s not something I’ll be using so far (I’m starting small), and I’m hoping before I get […]

Wow this was funny! This was on my cell phone (our business line) with a young man who had very little telephone skills. I’ll leave out all his meandering and try to just communicate his point:
ME: Hello?
HIM: Hi, I’m xxxxx from xxxxxxx. Are you familiar with our company?
ME: Hm, […]

The problem that every designer or design business comes across is (at least the successful ones) is that your own site is the last one you have a chance to work on. For me at least, it takes a serious effort to make enough spare time to work on my own site. I […]

It’s not Half-Life 3, really! HDR lighting, or HDRI can bring unheard of realism to 3d graphics, because it can pull real lighting conditions from a real photo. Somebody used the idea to render Half-Life 2 characters inside real photographs. The results are amazing! (if you scroll down there’s another set of […]

I thought this was great:
Some future predictions:
- In 2006, Google accidentally gets cut off from the rest of the internet because a public utility worker accidentally cuts through their cables. Civilisation as we know it comes to an end for the rest of the day, as people wander about aimlessly, lost for direction and knowledge.
- […]

Wait a second here, this story is about American women!? Yup. I had to read it twice to convince myself that yes, this story really is about American women. You know, America. That “land of the free, home of the brave” country? Except that apparently only applies to some people.
The […]

Jen and I have been married for four years today! It’s been such a wonderful four years, seeing our family grow from two, to three, and soon now to four (plus two wonderful cats!), seeing our business grow and flourish, and seeing our home grow from a small apartment to our first house. […]

I’ve just found out that Dr. Henry “Hank” McCoy — aka Beast — is going to play a large role in the third X-Men movie! This is great news, because he was my favorite character from when I used to watch the X-Men cartoon tv show, and his absense was always my biggest gripe […]

Jen drove down to have lunch with Erin today and got there late after getting caught in big traffic delays — due to the aftermath of a bank robbery and ensuing police chase! The robber had a handful of hostages and made one of them drive everyone in a getaway van to the airport, […]
