unabashed greed

Friday, September 30th, 2005

The RIAA is now threatening to cut iTunes off if Apple doesn’t raise the cost of select songs (ie popular ones that they can gouge listeners for) and give them a cut of their iPod sales! That is simply the greediest thought I’ve ever heard anybody admit to, let alone say out loud and publically!
The […]

Friday links: Mr. Magic

Friday, September 30th, 2005

Johnny Magic Rolling Stone has a captivating article about the rise of a geek hero, Jon Finkle. Nothing to do with computers, but cards. Not poker, but Magic. I’ve never even seen a Magic: The Gathering card, but I enjoyed the story nonetheless.
Frvade! A challenging online riddle — or really, a series of puzzles. Very […]

Finding Verbosity

Thursday, September 29th, 2005

Killian is on the cusp of a verbal explosion! Typically, soon after children start using two word combinations, they hit a verbal explosion and suddenly, in just a few months, they vocabulary quadruples and they start using short phrases. The only two-word phrase Killy is speaking right now is “Hi Dada” (and he might have […]

MOST EXCITING MOVIE RELEASE THIS YEAR

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

Forget Serenity. This is much more exciting!
I am just floored that I didn’t know about this sooner. Mirrormask is a Neil Gaiman movie, brought to life by the Jim Henson studio and directed by Dave McKean, my favorite graphic artist of all time.
I am so amazingly excited by this!

new shows strengthen

Wednesday, September 28th, 2005

I think both of the new shows I’ve been watching, Bones and Supernatural, are strengthening. I’m still not sure enough about the potential of Supernatural to know if it’s a long-term trend or a nice short-term boost, but I’ll ride with it for a while at least. My biggest problem is that I simply don’t […]

laptop upgrade

Monday, September 26th, 2005

Lately I’ve been having trouble with my laptop’s hard drive — including the click-o-death once. Very scary. I got a new hard drive last week, and after some really frustrating problems with copying my existing hard drive onto the new one, I finally got it installed.
I’ve never taken my laptop apart. I’ve taken desktop’s apart […]

take that, pro-war people!

Sunday, September 25th, 2005

This is amusing. A pro-war group organized a rally for today to counter the anti-war rally held a few days ago. The anti-war rally from a few days ago had around 100,000 people, and the pro-war group was expecting about as many.
How many showed up? 400 people. No, that’s not a typo. Only four […]

Jen’s day off

Saturday, September 24th, 2005

I let Jen have a “mom” vacation today, and she seems to have had a wonderful day off! I took Killy all day today (except for a couple of times when he nursed — I’m just not equipped to handle that) and we had such a good time! I don’t think he was feeling […]
