night terror

Monday, January 23rd, 2006

As I predicted, Killy had an extraordinarily rough night last night. I was good and did get to bed at about 10pm last night, and was asleep before 10:30 I think. But then Killy woke up at about midnight and I slept the rest of the night with him. And he had a terrible night […]

need sleep!

Sunday, January 22nd, 2006

I’ve been staying up watching movies too often the last few nights! Tonight, the plan is to go to bed pretty much as soon as we get Killy down. Which, given my success with early bedtimes over the last few years means I have an 80% chance of getting to bed before midnight. It also […]

bottling!

Saturday, January 21st, 2006

I tested the beer, and it had actually developed! The emergency resuscitation worked beautifully, and I estimate the beer to have an alcohol content volume of about 5%. I bottled 48 bottled, and tried a little of the remainder. Not bad! Of course, at this point it is flatter than probably any beer you have […]

fireplace

Friday, January 20th, 2006

After planning on building a fire in our fireplace for about two months — we’re actually going to do it tonight! It’s the perfect night. The temperature dropped over twenty degrees since yesterday. Yesterday, it was 56 degrees at 9am. Today, we had sleet. Time for a fire.

Geek Meets Art Believe it or not, this rendering of the Mona Lisa is created with nothing but Rubix Cubes! Geek factor: 10/10.
Animated Drawing Process A good look at the process of illustration, from foundation to shading, in step-by-step animation.
Lego Harpsichord! Except for the strings, it’s all lego. Just when you thought it had all […]

hopefully, a normal day tomorrow

Thursday, January 19th, 2006

My schedule has just been all over the place over the last few days. Three medium-sized meetings on Tuesday, one looooong meeting today, a special event last night, Ellie’s doctor’s appointment today…. It’s enough to put a huge dent in my productivity. I’m just really glad I finished up my recent Big Project already. Now, […]

fun night out

Thursday, January 19th, 2006

Jen alma mater was holding a small reception in the Kansas City area. Jen was so excited, because it was held by a faculty friend of hers, so it was really neat that she could go. It was in the “cigar room” of a high-end steak house that I’m now really wanting to try out […]

a month of meetings

Wednesday, January 18th, 2006

I might have to attend one meeting every six to eight weeks. Not bad, right? I agree, I hate meetings and I’m glad I’m not in many of them.
Today I had three meetings. Three! That’s more meetings than I typically have in two months! And I have another one on Thursday. Wow.
They all went well […]
